Three Ghanaian students emerged victorious in a significant display of academic excellence on the international stage, securing the top positions at the 2023 West African Examinations Council (WAEC) International Excellence Awards. The prestigious ceremony, part of the 72nd Annual Council Meeting, was hosted in Freetown, Sierra Leone, on March 19, 2024.
Amo-Kodieh Leonard Kofi Marton from St James Seminary Senior High School led the triumphant trio, heralded as the Overall Best Student. Close on his heels, Dzandu Selorm from Labone Senior High School took the second place, with Daniel Asenso-Gyambibi, also hailing from St James Seminary Senior High School, rounding off the top three. These accolades highlight students' exemplary performance in the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for School Candidates, a competition spanning several member countries, including the Gambia, Liberia, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, and Ghana.
